Leaf: paper, painting. The frame: ivory, carving, painting, gilding.
In the center of the leaf, in the image of a Dutch peasant, is the ancient Greek philosopher Diogenes and standing opposite, in full armor, Alexander the Great. The Emperor asked the philosopher how he could help, Diogenes replied: Move away and do not block my sun. On the left are children playing and a barking dog: during his lifetime Diogenes was often called a dog for his vagrancy. The reverse side depicts a horsewomen in full battle gear, which corresponds to the image of the Greek goddess Athena.
