Fabric leaf colour printed, wood frame tinted.
For the World Exhibition in Paris in 1900, a whole block of old buildings, “Old Paris”, lost during the reconstruction of the centre of the French capital, was built in the city centre. The project was designed by the French illustrator, cartoonist and writer Albert Robida (1848-1926). On the front side of the leaf we see two Ladies dressed according to XVII century fashion, looking with interest at a very smartly dressed man with a lute in his hand. On the left is the caption: Le Mignon (The Handsome Man). At the bottom left is the signature of the artist: A. Robida. On the right is the inscription in the cartouche: Vieux Paris (Old Paris). On the reverse side the inscription: Eventailes Duvelleroy, 17 Rue des Panoramas et 35 Bd des Capucines.
