Fan “Old Paris”

For the World Exhibition in Paris in 1900, a whole block of old buildings, “Old Paris”, lost during the reconstruction of the centre of the French capital, was built in the city centre. The project was designed by the French illustrator, cartoonist and writer Albert Robida (1848-1926). On the front side of the sheet we see noble persons dressed in the fashion of the 16th century watching from the balcony the formation of the Guard. At the bottom is the caption: La Guard montante. In the lower right corner is the signature of the artist: A. Robida. On the left in the cartouche is the inscription: 1900 Vieux Paris. On the reverse side the inscription: Eventailes Duvelleroy, 17 Rue des Panoramas et 35 Bd des Capucines.
