The fan is made of bone, painted and decorated with an application of bossed paper covered with gold paint. The composition is divided into three parts by conditional arches: in the centre and right part two noble ladies are embroidering, in the right part a young man is playing a wind instrument, pleasing the ear of the embroiderers. On the screen are densely scattered fruits of trees: pomegranates and acorns, as well as various flowers and insects. A scene from Chinese life is painted at the base of the fan. The guard sticks are also painted with scenes from Chinese life. On the reverse side is a sketch of the image on the front side.
