The front of the leaf depicts two people in a boat, fishing early in the morning. Although the landscape is depicted in a monochrome graphic style, the soft light indicates that it is morning. On the right is a dedication and date: A Madame Camaby, L’hommage respectueuse et amical. Riou 1880 (dedicated to Madame Camaby with respect and friendship, Riou 1880).
Edouard Riou (1833-1900) was a French artist and illustrator of books by Jules Verne, Victor Hugo and Walter Scott and others.
