Front side of the screen - paper, painting. The reverse side is leather, painting.
Frame: iridescent mother-of-pearl. The guard sticks show traces of dismantled monograms.
On the front side we see a charming girl, in whom the mischievous Cupid has shot an arrow of love. On the left, two doves, white and black, sit on a branch, an allusion to the wedding attire of the bride and groom, and the overall subject matter suggests that this is a wedding fan. The artist’s signature at the bottom right is J. Donzel. The reverse side shows a girl with a butterfly net, accompanied by a dog, against a summer landscape. On the bottom left is the signature of the famous Parisian fan house: Duvelleroy.
