Ivory frame, openwork carving.
The leaf shows the frescos painted by Raphael and his pupils in The Stanze of Raphael in the Vatican. In the centre: “The Judgment of King Solomon”, in the right corner: “Admonition to the Wisdom of Youth”, in the left corner: “Sacrifice of the White Bull”. The pictures were taken in the Hermitage. On the reverse side: an image of a peacock standing in a basket of roses and overshadowed by laurel branches.
On the frame: fine ivory carving with openwork grilles, flowers ans vases. In the central medallion: a scene from Chinese life.
