Size: 27 sm
Ivory frame, fine carving: the central medallion depicts an allegory of falling in love: a young man hands the girls a tethered bird, in the side medallions: two pairs of Cupids standing on clouds and holding a bird. The gorge is made of blue enamel.
Leather leaf is painted, in the central medallion is a beautifully drawn picture of the tomb of Cecilia Metella, built around 50 BC on the Appian Way, along which the Roman legions left to conquer the barbarians. The side medallions draw landscapes of Italy and are framed by borders with ornamentations in Pompei style.
On the reverse there is no image.
