Leaf on recto is paper painted with mythological story about Heracles: when Zeus sold a hero into slavery to the Lydian queen Omphala. The Heracles was forced to do women`s work, but captivated by the beauty of the queen he began to please all the whims of his mistress. A year later Omphala took Heracles as her husband and they had childrens.
In the center of the composition we see Heracles in womens clothing with a spindle in his hand, spinning yarn; to the left is Omphala holding the heros club, above them is Cupid, symbolizing the feelings that arose between heroes. the couple is surronded by girls unwinding yarn, winding thread, embroidering and sewing clothes. On verso leaf is skin painted with wide landscape.
Ivory frame is finely carved, painted & inlaid with mother-of-pearl & tortoise shell. On the frame we see many symbols of love, cupids playing with dogs (a dog is a symbol of fidelity).
