The front of the screen depicts two women: from the text on the reverse, it can be inferred that these are two famous poets of the Heian period (9th-11th centuries a.c.): Ise (c. 875 – c. 938) and Izumi Shikibu (c. 978 – c. 1034). These are pen names, their real names are unknown, as are the exact dates of their lives.
The reverse side of the leaf featured a gourd, traditional Japanese ornaments and text mentioning the unique Japanese tea “Royal Dragon”.
